Position Purpose The Assistant Bakery Manager assists in overseeing the daily operations of the Bakery Department to ensure exceptional customer service, high-quality products, food safety compliance, and achievement of sales and profitability goals. This position supports department leadership by supervising team members, maintaining merchandising standards, managing inventory, and ensuring bakery products are prepared, displayed, and stocked according to company expectations. Key Responsibilities Customer Service Deliver outstanding customer service and create a positive shopping experience. Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and bakery-related inquiries. Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally. Promote bakery products, seasonal offerings, and special promotions. Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service. Department Operations Assist with the daily operation of the Bakery Department. Ensure bakery cases, displays, and sales floor presentations are attractive, clean, and fully stocked. Support production planning to maintain proper product levels while minimizing shrink. Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering products and supplies. Execute company merchandising programs and promotional displays. Product Quality & Food Safety Ensure bakery products meet company quality and freshness standards. Monitor proper product rotation, dating, and storage procedures. Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations. Ensure all equipment and work areas are clean, organized, and properly maintained. Remove unsellable, damaged, or expired products promptly. Team Leadership Assist in supervising, training, and developing bakery team members. Provide work direction and assign daily tasks. Support employee engagement, accountability, and teamwork. Assist with onboarding and training new employees. Promote a positive and productive work environment. Financial Performance Support department sales, gross profit, labor, and shrink objectives. Assist with inventory control and cost management efforts. Monitor product movement and identify opportunities to increase sales. Support implementation of plans to improve departmental efficiency and profitability. Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with company operational standards and regulatory requirements. Promote a safe working environment for employees and customers. Report and address safety concerns promptly. Maintain proper documentation and records as required.
