Job Description

This entry-level position will be based at Camp Pendleton, assisting skilled trades professionals such as mechanics, welders, and fitters with various tasks on large hovercraft vessels. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with tools and equipment in a dynamic industrial setting and serves as a stepping stone to advance into skilled trades like mechanic, welder, or electrician.

Responsibilities

• Assist mechanics, welders, and fitters with daily tasks on large hovercraft boats.
• Handle, organize, and prepare hand and power tools for use by skilled trades personnel.
• Support basic facilities and maintenance tasks as directed.
• Help with simple electrical and plumbing-related tasks under supervision.
• Follow instructions from experienced tradespeople to complete production and repair work safely and efficiently.
• Lift, move, and position materials and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in and around the hangar.
• Use appropriate safety practices and follow all site and tool safety procedures.
• Work frequent overtime on Fridays and Saturdays as part of the regular schedule.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly about task status and any issues observed.

Essential Skills

• Experience with hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and use a tape measurer.
• Reliability and ability to lift 50+ pounds.

Work Environment

The work environment is indoors within an open hangar, focusing on large hovercraft boats, specifically 80-foot LCAC's. The standard shift is 1st, running from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, with an alternative 1st shift from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oceanside, CA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
