Bioprocess Manager

Wilson Community College is seeking a skilled and mission-driven professional to serve as Bioprocess Manager for the Biomanufacturing Education and Skills Training (BEST) Center of Eastern NC, located at The Campus at 587 in Wilson, NC. The Bioprocess Manager will oversee the operation of bioprocess suites and clean utility systems, manage equipment maintenance, and support the delivery of high-quality education and training programs that strengthen the life sciences workforce across eastern North Carolina. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead the start-up and daily operation of clean utilities and bioprocess suites within the BEST Center.
• Supervise staff responsible for operating and maintaining bioprocess and laboratory equipment.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and supervision of engineering and bioprocess technicians.
• Support instructional delivery through lectures and hands-on lab facilitation.
• Monitor equipment performance and ensure adherence to safety and biosafety protocols.
• Prepare and submit progress reports and documentation as requested.
• Perform administrative functions related to equipment, staffing, and instructional support.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to support program goals and workforce development initiatives.

• Ability to plan, organize, and support education and training programs while meeting goals for safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
• Proficiency with basic laboratory instruments and biomanufacturing equipment.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety and biosafety practices.
• Effective interpersonal skills for working with students, trainees, and industry partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Comfort with digital technologies to enhance operational efficiency.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a Life Science or Engineering field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in a science laboratory or manufacturing facility.

• Master's or Doctorate in a Life Science or Engineering field.
• Experience working in a GMP-regulated environment.
• Hands-on experience with operating and maintaining biomanufacturing equipment.
• Prior management experience.
• Teaching experience at a community college or university.
