Structural Steel Flux‑Cored Arc Welder

Location: Coatesville, PA

• Pay: $22–$34/hour, based on experience, skill level, and certifications
• Schedule: 5:00 AM start • 10-hour shifts • Overtime available
• Facility: 65,000 SF AISC‑Certified structural steel fabrication facility

A day on our floor

At 5:00 AM the bays come alive. You’ll review WPSs and shop drawings, set up your FCAW equipment, and team up with fitters and machine operators to move large beams and assemblies with overhead cranes. Your focus: high‑quality FCAW welds on structural beams, columns, plates, and connections that meet AWS D1.1 and JGM quality standards. Through the day you’ll handle weld prep, grinding, carbon arc gouging, and occasional repair work—inspecting your own welds and maintaining a clean, safe station. Production flows because you communicate with foremen and quality personnel and contribute to continuous‑improvement and safety initiatives.

About the work

• Perform FCAW on beams, columns, plates, connections, and heavy fabricated assemblies
• Meet or exceed AWS D1.1 criteria and internal JGM quality benchmarks
• Interpret weld symbols, WPSs, and fabrication/shop drawings accurately
• Execute weld prep, fitting support, grinding, gouging, and repairs as required
• Operate safely around overhead cranes, fixtures, and heavy steel
• Collaborate with fitters, machine operators, foremen, and quality teams to keep production moving

Where your work shows up

Our teams fabricate structural steel for complex projects nationwide, including data centers, steel mills, stadiums, conveyor systems, automated racking systems, and other heavy‑industrial facilities.

Your background

• 2+ years of structural steel welding experience (this is not an entry‑level role)
• Hands‑on FCAW (Flux Core) experience is required
• Proven work on beams, columns, plate, and heavy assemblies
• Ability to deliver code‑compliant welds to AWS D1.1
• Vertical and overhead proficiency strongly preferred
• Fluent in weld symbols, WPSs, and fabrication/shop drawings
• Skilled in weld prep, grinding, carbon arc gouging, and cleanup
• Current or prior AWS D1.1 certification preferred
• AISC fabrication shop experience is a plus
• Strong commitment to quality, productivity, attendance, and safety
