COMPENSATION: $60,000 - $70,000 based on Special Projects Salary Schedule

Wayne-Westland Community Schools is located in the metropolitan Detroit area, between Ann Arbor and Detroit. Our staff provides the very best educational opportunities for approx. 10,000 students from Westland, Wayne, Canton, Livonia, Garden City, Dearborn Heights, Inkster, and Romulus. The Wayne-Westland Community School district is comprised of ten elementary schools (K-5), three middle schools (6-8), and two high schools (9-12). Qualification Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for injury prevention programming for coaches and athletes.
• Provide care for injured athletes and assess the need for additional care such as EMS or follow-up with a physician.
• Responsible for communication with parents, health care providers and staff (as permitted by HIPPA).
• Documentation of injuries and treatment including required MHSAA Concussion Reporting.
• Carries out appropriate instructions, treatment and rehabilitation as directed by the supervising physician.
• Assists and advises coaches in the appropriate fit and use of safety equipment.
• Responsible for the organization, inventory, and requisition (through the AD) of training room supplies.
• Must be present at all designated games and practices.
• Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the athletic director or principal.
• Make parent/guardian phone calls
• Other duties as assigned
• Regular and predictable attendance

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor's degree or higher.
• ATC Certification from BOC
• Valid Michigan AT License (or valid AT License from another state if currently practicing outside of MI).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must be eligible to work in the United States
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
• Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions
• Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community
• Must have essential technology skills, i.e. skilled at using PC computer, laptop, assistive communication devices/technology and other educational technology and software

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about the gym and fields. The employee will be required to frequently use hands and body to demonstrate proper techniques required for the sports. The employee must have the ability to lift 50 lbs. The employee will work in indoor and outdoor weather conditions. The employee will frequently communicate with students, staff, and parents and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to interact with students, staff and occasionally with the public. This employee is directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a Special Projects position with a salary of $60,000-$70,000 which includes a single coverage benefits package. This is a 12-month position, with 220 work days to be scheduled as needed based on Athletic Programming within the building. Beginning August 1, 2024.
