Job Title: RN Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient - Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Less than 1 year of direct patient care experience required License: RN - Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Must-Have: Ability to read, write and speak English Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills Excellent time management and critical thinking skills Description: The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, and safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The framework for practice is guided by a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. All RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards established by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient while supporting service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care. Uses evidence-based practice and analytical/critical thinking to ensure that care is individualized. Coordinates care through effective partnerships, recognizing the centrality of caring in achieving optimal patient outcomes. Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose. Practices using current clinical practice standards. Teamwork and Collaboration: Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care. Engages in diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods. Completes timely documentation and promotes a respectful clinical environment. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration while being fiscally responsible. Participates in performance improvement initiatives, supporting research and quality patient care. Professional Development and Initiative: Completes initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education. Serves as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses and staff. Models professional practice and fosters a healthy work environment. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: Promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research. Participates in value analysis as part of decision-making in patient care. Upholds all organizational policies and procedures ensuring safety and quality standards. Resources and Support: Proactively plans for patient care across the care continuum.
