EMS Adjunct Instructor

Title: EMS Adjunct Instructor Agency: Rappahannock Community College Location: Gloucester - 073 FLSA: Exempt Hiring Range: Salary will be $793 to $1,463 per credit hour, commensurate with education and experience. Full Time or Part Time: Part Time Job Description Rappahannock Community College (RCC), founded in 1970, provides high-quality educational and training opportunities throughout a 12-county service region an hour east of Richmond on the beautiful western shore of the Chesapeake Bay with access to fresh local seafood and water activities. RCC’s annualized enrollment of 3,700 credit students in 2024-2025 and almost 800 workforce and community development students are supported by almost 140 full-time employees and over 200 part-time/adjunct employees across two main campuses and four satellite sites. RCC seeks applicants for EMS Adjunct Instructor positions. This position is part-time. The general responsibilities of the EMS Adjunct Instructor is the skillful and knowledgeable delivery of EMS program content to include classroom and laboratory teaching, national testing preparatory work and involvement in the placement of students in field experiences. This position reports to the EMS Program Head and to the Dean of Health Sciences. Adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of the equivalent of 10 workload credits in fall and spring semesters and eight workload credits in the summer term. Teaching assignments are negotiated with the Dean of Health Sciences to include campus, hours of instruction and teaching load. Day, evening and weekend teaching options may be available to accommodate the faculty’s schedule. Minimum Qualifications EMT Instruction: Virginia and/or National Registry Advanced Emergency Medical Technician designation or higher with an unencumbered license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and significant experience as a provider in a high call volume agency or equivalent experience in other agencies. Teaching experience in approved EMS program(s). Demonstrated competency in BLS and/or ALS knowledge, psychomotor skills, and affective domain evaluation. AEMT Instruction/Paramedic Instruction: Virginia and/or National Registry Paramedic designation with an unencumbered license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia, American Heart Association CPR for Health Care Providers certification, and significant experience as an ALS provider in a high call volume agency or the equivalent experience in other agencies. Teaching experience in an approved EMS program(s). Demonstrated competency in ALS knowledge, psychomotor skills, and affective domain evaluation. Additional Considerations Associate or bachelor’s degree in EMS or equivalent fields, VEMSES and/or NEMSES instructor designation or eligibility, and Instructor in certification courses such as ACLS, ITLS, PHTLS, PEPP, PALS, AMLS, etc. with experience teaching in programs.
