Medical AssistantTo coordinate and assist the provider to ensure safe quality/cost effective service and care for the people within the practice population.What You'll DoProvides direct patient care, including obtaining and documenting vital signs, reviewing medical history, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting with treatments and procedures within scope of practice.Performs clinical laboratory duties, including specimen collection, venipuncture, point-of-care testing, quality control, documentation, and communication of results.Administers medications and immunizations as ordered by the clinician and in accordance with established policies and procedures.Maintains accurate patient information and documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR), including referrals, lab requests, procedures, and other required clinical data.Provides patient education and reinforces clinician instructions regarding treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and self-care management.Supports registration, scheduling, check-out, insurance verification, payment collection, and other front-office functions as needed.Collaborates with clinicians and team members to provide safe, efficient, high-quality patient care and identify opportunities for process improvement.Maintains required clinical competencies, certifications, continuing education, and mandatory training.Provides a welcoming, respectful, and patient-centered experience through clear communication, service excellence, and adherence to Novant Health's mission, vision, and values.May have occasional exposure to radiation depending on the assigned clinic or specialty.What We're Looking ForEducation: High School or GED, required.
