The Job We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Low Voltage Designer to lead the strategy, design, implementation, and deployment of telecommunications and low-volume infrastructure across our data center portfolio. This role combines technical design leadership with project execution oversight, serving as the primary authority for structured cabling, fiber infrastructure, outside plant (OSP), security systems, BAS/EPMS integration, DAS, and other critical low-volume technologies. The successful candidate will establish design standards, lead multidisciplinary project teams, oversee construction execution, and ensure all infrastructure solutions meet the stringent operational, scalability, and reliability requirements of hyperscale data center environments. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, project management capabilities, and stakeholder management skills. Responsibilities Establish, maintain, and continuously improve telecommunications and low‑voltage design standards, specifications, drawing templates, and best practices. Lead the design and development of structured cabling, fiber optic, OSP, MMR/MDF/IDF, security, BAS/EPMS, fire alarm, public safety radio, cellular DAS, and RoIP systems. Review, approve, and provide technical oversight for construction documents, schematics, riser diagrams, room layouts, grounding details, and installation requirements. Ensure compliance with BICSI, ANSI/TIA, ASIS, and applicable industry standards. Manage the full project lifecycle from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and turnover. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, architects, MEP engineers, consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery. Define project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements. Develop and review project bills of materials, cost estimates, change orders, product substitutions, and procurement strategies. Monitor project milestones, risks, and quality metrics to ensure delivery against business objectives. Provide technical direction throughout the construction process and act as the primary telecommunications subject matter expert. Conduct site visits, technical audits, and quality inspections to verify design compliance and installation workmanship. Review RFIs, submittals, redlines, and field modifications while resolving complex technical issues. Coordinate infrastructure requirements including pathways, cable tray systems, conduit routing, power, cooling, and space allocation. Lead, mentor, and develop internal design resources while fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. Review and approve design deliverables produced by internal and external teams. Support contractor qualification, interview, selection, and performance management processes. Build strong relationships with business leaders, construction teams, vendors, and external partners. Remain current on emerging technologies, industry standards, and evolving data center infrastructure trends. Drive process improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability, and quality across the design and construction lifecycle. Support the organization's transition toward advanced digital design workflows, including Revit and BIM-based environments. Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co‑workers/teammates and leaders across the organization. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Telecommunications, or related field preferred. 7+ years of telecommunications infrastructure design and implementation experience, including 3+ years in leadership, design management, or project management roles. Experience supporting hyperscale data centers, mission‑critical facilities, or large campus infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of structured cabling, fiber optics, OSP design, physical security, fire/life safety systems, BAS, EPMS, and DAS. One of the following certifications required: RCDD, CNIDP, CDCDP, or PSP. PMP/RTPM and other telecom certifications (ITS, DC, OSP) are a plus. Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam; Revit/BIM experience preferred. Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, telecommunications systems, and systems architecture. Familiarity with BICSI TDMM, ANSI/TIA, ASIS standards, and industry best practices preferred. Field experience with hyperscale data centers and campus‑wide fiber/copper cabling preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
