Construction Manager – Air Separation Unit (ASU) Position Summary ISS is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to provide site leadership for the construction, installation, completion, and commissioning of a large-scale Air Separation Unit (ASU) / industrial gas facility. The Construction Manager will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing multidisciplinary field construction activities, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and site supervision to ensure work is executed safely, in accordance with project specifications and quality requirements, and within established schedule and cost objectives. The ideal candidate will have direct experience with cryogenic Air Separation Unit construction and a strong background managing complex process-plant construction from engineering and procurement through construction, mechanical completion, commissioning, and startup. This is a hands-on site leadership role requiring extensive coordination among the owner, EPC/EPCM organization, engineering teams, contractors, subcontractors, equipment vendors, commissioning personnel, and other project stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Construction & Site Management Lead and coordinate day-to-day field construction activities across multiple disciplines. Provide overall construction oversight for mechanical, piping, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation and controls, insulation, and equipment installation activities. Coordinate Site Superintendents, construction supervisors, contractors, subcontractors, OEMs, and vendors. Ensure construction activities are performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contracts, project procedures, and applicable codes and standards. Conduct regular site inspections with a focus on safety, quality, schedule, cost, constructability, and contractor performance. Identify and resolve field construction and engineering issues in coordination with the appropriate engineering disciplines and project leadership. Manage interfaces and work sequencing between contractors and construction disciplines. Chair or participate in construction coordination, contractor, progress, and interface meetings. Monitor contractor staffing and manpower requirements and identify potential resource constraints. Support site logistics, construction planning, and work-area coordination. Schedule, Cost & Contractor Management Monitor construction progress against the approved project schedule and established milestones. Work with contractors and project controls personnel to identify schedule risks, delays, and recovery actions. Review contractor progress reports, forecasts, quantities, and other construction reporting. Monitor contractor performance and compliance with construction contracts and specifications. Support cost control, forecasting, and evaluation of contractor changes. Manage and coordinate RFIs, field changes, construction deviations, and change orders. Identify potential scope changes and support active change management with the client, contractors, and project management team. Maintain clear and accurate construction progress reporting for project leadership. Quality Assurance / Quality Control Ensure construction activities comply with project QA/QC requirements, specifications, drawings, and applicable codes and standards. Coordinate inspections and acceptance of completed construction work. Monitor contractor quality performance and resolution of deficiencies and nonconforming work. Support required documentation, inspection records, test packages, and turnover documentation. Coordinate hydrotesting, pressure testing, equipment inspections, and other required construction verification activities. Mechanical Completion, Turnover & Commissioning Coordinate mechanical completion activities and system turnover from construction to commissioning. Manage and monitor punch-list development, prioritization, and closeout. Participate in P&ID walkdowns and system completion reviews. Ensure required construction documentation is complete and available for turnover. Work closely with commissioning and startup teams to ensure an effective transition from construction to pre-commissioning and commissioning. Coordinate resolution of construction issues identified during commissioning and startup. Support operational readiness activities and completion of final construction and as-built documentation. Health, Safety & Environmental Promote a strong safety culture and ensure construction activities are performed in accordance with project HSE requirements. Support implementation and enforcement of site-specific HSE programs, work practices, and permitting requirements. Coordinate with HSE personnel, contractors, subcontractors, client representatives, and project leadership regarding safe execution of construction activities. Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented. Participate in site safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective-action activities as required. Required Experience Air Separation Unit / Cryogenic Experience Direct Air Separation Unit (ASU) experience is strongly preferred. Relevant experience should include one or more of the following: Cryogenic ASU construction New-build ASU projects ASU expansions, revamps, or modifications Cold box installation and associated equipment Molecular sieve / Temperature Swing Adsorption (TSA) systems Cryogenic piping systems and equipment ASU mechanical completion, commissioning, and startup Candidates without direct ASU experience should have substantial construction management experience in comparable industrial gas or cryogenic/process facilities, such as: Cryogenic processing facilities LNG or LPG facilities Petrochemical plants Chemical processing facilities Other large-scale process plants EPC / EPCM Project Experience The successful candidate should have experience working within complex EPC/EPCM project environments and coordinating with multiple project stakeholders, including: EPC/EPCM contractors Engineering organizations General contractors Multiple construction subcontractors OEMs and equipment vendors Owner/client representatives Commissioning and startup organizations Experience supporting projects through the full lifecycle of engineering → procurement → construction → mechanical completion → commissioning/startup is highly desirable. Multidiscipline Construction Experience Candidates should have demonstrated experience coordinating or managing multiple construction disciplines, including: Mechanical Process and utility piping Structural steel Civil and foundations Electrical Instrumentation and controls Insulation Hydrotesting and pressure testing Commissioning and startup Experience with the installation, construction, testing, or commissioning of equipment commonly found in ASU and large-scale process facilities is highly desirable, including: Compressors and centrifugal compressors Pumps and rotating equipment Cold boxes Cryogenic vessels Molecular sieve systems Cryogenic piping Instrumentation and control systems DCS and PLC systems Qualifications Significant construction management experience on large-scale industrial, process, industrial gas, petrochemical, chemical, LNG, natural gas, or comparable projects. Direct ASU or cryogenic industrial gas construction experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience managing contractors and multidisciplinary construction activities in an active field environment. Strong understanding of construction planning, scheduling, cost control, change management, QA/QC, mechanical completion, and system turnover. Experience coordinating construction activities with commissioning and startup teams. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, P&IDs, equipment documentation, and project procedures. Strong field leadership, communication, problem-solving, and contractor-management skills. Ability to effectively interface with client representatives, engineering teams, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and project leadership. Strong commitment to safe construction execution and project HSE requirements. Ability to work full-time at the project site for the duration of the assignment. Preferred Qualifications Previous Construction Manager or senior site construction leadership experience on an Air Separation Unit project . Experience with both new-build and brownfield ASU projects. Experience with cryogenic equipment installation and piping systems. Experience progressing projects through construction, mechanical completion, commissioning, and startup. Experience working for or directly supporting an industrial gas owner/operator, EPC/EPCM contractor, or major process-plant engineering/construction organization. Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical discipline is preferred; substantial relevant field construction experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. #J-18808-Ljbffr
