BETA is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Engineer to join our team. This position will play a key role in performing highway design, developing contract plans and documents, and mentoring junior staff. This position will also collaborate across our multiple service areas, assist with business development, project pursuits, and coordinate projects with our clients.Responsibilities:Provide technical assistance and manage technical aspects on a variety of transportation and transportation related projectsPerform detailed engineering tasks, such as the design, review/preparation of contract documents, development of construction cost estimates and specificationsOversee and manage multiple projects at once, providing responsive client service and strong communication, both internally and externallyWork with multiple municipalities and agency clientsPresent project findings and represent the company at client meetingsWork as part of our overall design team, providing technical support and collaboration with other disciplinesOversee and mentor younger staffPreferred location is BETA's Hartford office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.Growth Opportunities:BETA encourages and promotes employee advancement and career developmentLeads to potential advancement to more senior technical positions and project managementRequirements:Required Experience/Skills:Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or related field8+ years of related engineering experience in highway design, stormwater management, ADA compliance, and roadway construction practicesProfessional Engineer (PE) licenseProficient with AutoCAD Civil3D and Microstation OpenRoads DesignerExperience with MUTCD, AASHTO, CTDOT design requirementsMust be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspectionsMust be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 poundsMust be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of timeMust have a valid driver's license and reliable transportationAbout BETA:BETA Group, Inc. is a New England based consultant engineering firm and leader in the fields of transportation, traffic, structural, civil/site, and water/wastewater engineering; landscape architecture; urban design and planning; GIS/asset management; environmental sciences and permitting; and construction services.
