Job Summary Responsible for providing guidance, mentoring, and daily oversight of new and existing staff, ensuring proper handling of accounts within the Patient Access department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides daily support, mentoring, and training to new hires and existing Patient Access staff, assisting in managing escalated issues as needed. Assists in preparation for both short‑ and long‑range planning recommendations for all Registration Process areas including Admitting, Centralized Scheduling, Emergency Department, and on‑ or off‑site clinics. Maintains positive customer service at all times, assisting staff in resolving issues. Enforces departmental policies, practices, procedures, and work rules in accordance with approved department and hospital policies and helps develop and implement new policies following hospital and corporate guidelines. Monitors daily activity and completes performance and metric reports such as financial clearance reports; may also handle special projects and reporting when assigned. Performs all Patient Access functions as required. Participates in the management team to ensure the group meets all operational goals. Supervisory Responsibilities This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with guidelines, policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Duties include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving complaints and problems. Direct Reports: Rep, PA I‑IV Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrated leadership abilities. Proficient knowledge of computer systems within Health Care Information Systems. Clear understanding of Revenue Cycle Management and relevant regulatory agencies. Ability to receive and convey detailed information via oral and written communication. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred. 2‑ or 4‑year college degree in Business, Accounting, Medical Administration, or a related field preferred. 4+ years of experience in a medical facility, health insurance, or related area. 5+ years of experience in Patient Access preferred. 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role preferred. Physical Demands Must be able to work in a sitting position. Work Environment Hospital work environment. Other Requirements Must be available to work hours and days as needed based on departmental or system demands. Must be "on‑call" as required.
