Capital Projects Manager

Our client, a well-established industrial manufacturing organization, is seeking a Capital Projects Manager to lead a major manufacturing expansion and facility relocation initiative. This role will oversee the transition of an existing production operation into a larger, optimized manufacturing environment designed to support future growth, operational efficiency, and increased production capabilities. This is a contract opportunity with an initial engagement of 18 months. The position will play a critical role in managing capital projects related to facility readiness, equipment relocation and installation, infrastructure upgrades, and production continuity throughout the transition process. The successful candidate will combine strong project leadership with hands-on manufacturing experience and the ability to manage complex, cross‑functional initiatives within a fast‑paced industrial environment. Key Responsibilities Lead the end‑to‑end planning and execution of a multi‑site manufacturing consolidation project. Oversee capital projects related to facility modifications, equipment installation, production line transfers, infrastructure upgrades, and operational integration. Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, risk mitigation plans, and resource allocation. Coordinate cross‑functional teams including Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, EHS, Quality, and external contractors/vendors. Ensure manufacturing continuity and minimize downtime during equipment moves and site transition activities. Manage contractor relationships, permitting activities, construction oversight, and vendor performance. Track project progress against milestones and provide regular updates to senior leadership. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, layout optimization, and cost reduction. Ensure all projects are executed in compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Support commissioning, start‑up, and stabilization activities following equipment and production transfers. Qualifications + experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline. 10+ years of experience managing capital projects within industrial manufacturing environments. Proven experience leading facility consolidations, plant expansions, equipment relocations, or major manufacturing transformation projects. Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, industrial equipment, and production environments. Experience managing contractors, EPC/EPCM firms, and cross‑functional stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to manage complex budgets, timelines, and multiple concurrent workstreams. Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. PMP certification or similar project management qualification is preferred.
