Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Delta Center Elementary as a Special Education ParaEducator. This full-time position plays a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they have access to a meaningful and inclusive educational experience. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to provide individualized assistance, promote positive behavior, and foster a supportive learning environment. Responsibilities Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs. Provide one-on-one and small group support to students in academic and social skills development. Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and engagement, reporting findings to teachers and special education staff. Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to enhance student learning and well-being. Support students in daily activities, including transitions, lunch, and recess, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment. Help prepare instructional materials and adapt resources to meet the diverse needs of students. Implement behavioral intervention strategies as directed by the teacher or special education staff. Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and training as required. Collaborate with other educational professionals, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and school counselors. Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and adhere to school policies and procedures. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in education, psychology, or a related field preferred. Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is highly desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from teachers and special education professionals. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with diverse needs. Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology. CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Background check clearance as required by school district policy.
