About the Role
he Head of the Residential Expert Center is a strategic and operational leader responsible for building, scaling, and continuously improving the centralized operational backbone supporting the Residential Programs. This role leads functions that can be standardized and optimized to drive consistency and economies of scale across program delivery, including QA/QC, program start-up, business operations and reporting, workforce planning, and operational excellence. Serving as a key partner to the President of the Residential Business, this leader drives performance by disseminating best practices, coaching Managing Directors, and ensuring programs meet operational, financial, and performance KPIs. The role also stewards the Management Operating System (MOS) and supports enterprise OKRs. The ideal candidate is a Lean expert, strong operator, and proven people leader capable of leading large, distributed teams while driving transparency, accountability, and performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Operational Excellence Partner with the President to drive operational and financial performance Lead development and execution of the Residential MOS, ensuring cadence and accountability Champion Lean and continuous improvement practices Build scalable processes and frameworks to drive consistent performance Expert Center Leadership Lead a centralized team (~150 employees) across QA/QC, operations, reporting, and workforce planning Develop scalable organizational structures and high-performance culture Drive engagement, accountability, and alignment through change Program QA/QC & Performance Oversee quality frameworks ensuring compliance and performance standards Implement dashboards and tools to identify and resolve issues early Act as escalation point for program risks Program Start-Up Lead centralized program launch efforts with standardized playbooks and tools Ensure smooth transition from contract award to steady-state operations Business Operations & Reporting Oversee reporting systems, dashboards, KPIs, and data governance Provide visibility into program performance, risks, and opportunities Standardize SOPs and operational workflows Workforce Planning Develop workforce strategies aligned to demand and program needs Build forecasting models tied to volume, seasonality, and performance Provide insights into staffing and financial impacts Coaching & Best Practices Coach Managing Directors on performance management and operational discipline Develop and implement best practice playbooks Align centralized and field operations Cross-Functional Leadership Partner with Technology, Finance, HR, and Business Development Support program scoping, startup, and enterprise initiatives Contribute to strategic planning and OKR tracking Position Requirements Education and Experience 12+ years of leadership experience in operations or program delivery Strong Lean/continuous improvement expertise (certification preferred) Experience leading large, distributed teams (100+ employees) Proven success building operating systems, dashboards, and performance frameworks Experience in energy efficiency or similar industries preferred Skills and Abilities Strong operational and strategic thinking Proven ability to scale teams and optimize workflows Effective leader with strong communication and influence skills Data-driven decision maker comfortable with KPIs and forecasting Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive adoption of change Commitment to diversity and inclusion Additional Requirements Valid driver’s license Willingness to travel up to 40%
