This essential role helps ensure our residents live in a clean, safe, and comfortable environment every day.If you take pride in your work and enjoy making a difference in a healthcare setting, we encourage you to apply.Compensation$16.19 per hour with full benefits$20.95 per hour with limited benefits optionPosition SummaryUnder general supervision, the Housekeeping Aide performs routine semi-skilled and skilled housekeeping duties throughout the nursing facility. Responsibilities include operating cleaning equipment, maintaining sanitation standards, and supporting a healthy environment for residents, staff, and visitors.Key ResponsibilitiesClean and sanitize resident rooms, hallways, bathrooms, bathing suites, common areas, staff areas, and storage areas on a scheduled basisOperate housekeeping equipment including vacuums, carpet shampooers, floor machines, and chemical dispensersSeparate and properly dispose of trash, recyclables, and hazardous materialsRestock paper goods, soaps, detergents, and cleaning suppliesMaintain housekeeping equipment and storage areas in clean, safe conditionPerform scheduled sanitizing of beds, furniture, and windowsMonitor supply levels and notify supervisors of shortagesAttend required meetings, in-services, and training sessionsRespond to emergency situations and assist with evacuation if necessaryPerform other duties as assignedQualifications & RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalentMinimum 18 years of ageAbility to read, write, and communicate effectively in EnglishStrong verbal communication skillsHonest, dependable, and of good moral character with a caring demeanorCurrent CPR Certification requiredMust complete orientation and ongoing in-service educationPhysical exam and required TB testing within 10 days of employment (chest x-ray if indicated)Negative Health Care Worker background checkAbility to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodationPhysical RequirementsThis position requires continuous physical activity, including:Lifting up to 40 poundsPushing/pulling carts and equipment weighing over 200 poundsStanding, walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, squatting, and reaching overheadWorking in confined spaces and occasionally at heightsContinuous exposure to cleaning chemicals and healthcare environmentsAbility to hear alarms, follow verbal instructions, and detect odors such as smoke or gasWork EnvironmentPrimarily indoor work in a well-lit, climate-controlled nursing facilityFrequent interaction with residents, families, and staffRegular exposure to cleaning equipment, chemicals, and infectious materialsAt DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center, you are more than an employee - you are part of a compassionate team committed to providing quality care and maintaining a safe, respectful home for our residents.Apply today and become an important part of our care team!I understand that employment may be conditioned upon successfully passing a background check.
