SUMMARY
The Family and Community Engagement Coordinator will serve in a regional capacity to assist in the development, facilitation, coordination, implementation, and scheduling of parent/guardian engagement opportunities in collaboration with the Family and Community Engagement Manager and other regional Family and Community Engagement Coordinators.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Family and Community Engagement Coordinator will empower parents/guardians to become knowledgeable partners in their students' education with academic, non-academic, and social-emotional learning, resources, and services. Efforts will be focused on capacity building through collaboration and partnership to increase student achievement and enhance students' school experience. Plans and facilitates parent/guardian workshops, classes, family events, etc. This includes ensuring parent/guardian representation and participation on campus and district committees. Works with the Family and Community Engagement Manager to determine appropriate programs and activities to bridge the gap between home and school for the purpose of helping parents/guardians get the information and support needed to ensure their students' academic and social emotional success. Provides parent/guardian information and resources (parental support) for a variety of topics to empower parents/guardians to navigate our school systems and protocols i.e., ParentVue, FAFSA, Parent/Teacher communications, Handbook/Code of Conduct, etc. so they can become advocates and partners for their students' education. Works with the Family and Community Engagement Manager to implement approved assessments, surveys, and/or focus groups for parents/guardians and families to identify the needs and inform the work both at a district and campus community lens. Compiles data and information to be shared. Collaborates with campus leadership, Community Liaisons, Family Engagement Liaison and student services staff in partnership with the Family and Community Engagement Manager to review district and campus level data and identify opportunities to align with campus Integrated Action Plans, District Strategic Plan, MTSS and SST needs, when applicable. Creates and maintains an updated calendar of events, assists with maintaining information and resources on the Family and Community Engagement webpage in collaboration with Marketing and Communications campus leadership and teams. Plans regional and districtwide events in collaboration with regional Family and Community Engagement Coordinators, Family Engagement Liaisons and the Family and Community Engagement Manager. Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned. Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines: High School diploma, Bachelor or Associate degree preferred or college level coursework equivalent. Two years of experience working with parents/guardians; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience with public speaking, presenting to groups, and project management. Fluency in language of the target population to be served is preferred.LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid Arizona State Driver's License is required. Posses an Arizona Department of Public Service IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND ABILITIES Skill in facilitation, training, and content development Strong public speaking and presentation skills Skill in assessing professional development needs and interests for parents/guardians Skill in researching and compiling data for reports, presentations, and technical documents. Skill in planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments with minimum supervision. Ability to maintain accurate records, logs, and filing systems. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public. Commitment to create and sustain a thriving learning and working environment for students and staff. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Work is performed throughout campuses, family residences, and community spaces within Maricopa County. Both indoors and outdoors. Physical ability to perform all of the essential functions. May be required to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to work flexible hours.WHY WORK AT PXU
