Medical Assistant InstructorEngages students in the teaching/learning process; works assigned schedule.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:Plans and teaches courses that fulfill the current curriculum goals and objectives.Remains current with subject matter and instructional methodology.Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectives.Communicates progress in the course to students in a timely manner.Determines and submits students' grades in accordance with established College policies and procedures.The instructor must be competent and be able to teach the students the following competencies including:Taking Patient Vital SignsTaking Medical HistoriesPreparing Patients for Medical Tests and ExaminationsAssisting Physicians During ExaminationsExplaining Medical Procedures to PatientsSterilizing Medical InstrumentsRemoving SuturesCalling Prescriptions in to PharmaciesPreparing Patients for X-RaysAdministering Topical, Oral, or Intramuscular MedicationsFilling Out Insurance FormsFiling Patient Medical RecordsMaintaining the Confidentiality of Patient InformationManaging inventory and ordering suppliesScheduling Patient Medical ProceduresFollowing Up on Patient VisitsUpdating Patient ChartsOrdering Lab TestsBilling PatientsWorking with Insurance CompaniesManaging Petty CashAnswering PhonesGreeting PatientsSorting MailHandling CorrespondenceFilingTyping DocumentsPerforming Computer Data EntryHandling Billing and Bookkeeping TasksSupports the mission of the program, division, and College.Program Area Responsibilities (as applicable):Responsible for teaching, lecture and lab-based classes in various teaching modes (traditional, hybrid, and on-line) related to the field of medical assistant.Education and/or Work Experience:Certified Medical Assistant/ Registered Medical Assistant.Associate Degree in related field preferredHas worked in an Ambulatory care setting for a minimum of 2 yearsMinimum of two years teaching experienceOther Skills and Abilities:Ability to effectively communicate one-on-one, in small groups, and in classroom situations.Proficient in word-processing and presentation software, internet, and e-mail.Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of students.Capability to teach in more than one discipline.Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills.Effective problem-solving skills.Ability to work a combination of days/evening/weekend schedules.Must be able to travel to both Fremont and Fostoria locations.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Certified Medical Assistant/ Registered Medical AssistantAmerican Heart Association BLS CPR
