Job Summary Performs activities in a particular human resource management field of expertise (i.e. benefits, employee relations, etc.). Provides guidance and assistance to less-experienced human resources analysts in area of expertise. Based on the recent Proclamation: Restriction on Entry of Certain Nonimmigrant Workers (H-1B) , VSU will not be sponsoring any new H-1B visa petitions until further notice.
Responsibilities Typical Allocation of Duties : Employment and on-boarding - 20%
Develops, implements, and maintains employment and on-boarding programs. Benefit management - 10%
Counsels employees regarding benefits programs. Publicizes benefits programs; conducts individual orientation sessions and group benefits reviews. Maintains benefits records and prepares necessary documents for implementing coverage. Provide guidance and assistance - 10%
Provide guidance and assistance to less-experienced HR staff. Employee relations - 10%
Develops, implements, and maintains employee relations programs and policies. Maintain files and prepares documents - 20%
Maintain personnel files and records. Prepare job profiles, benefits brochures, employee handbooks, and other materials as directed. Assist with plans, policies, and procedure - 10%
Assist in the formulation of staffing plans and personnel policies and procedures. Training and risk management - 10%
Administer employee training and risk management functions. Compensation - 10%
Manage employee compensation functions. Assist in maintaining pay plan. Complete salary surveys. Supervisor Expectations :
Bachelor's degree and over five (5) years of related work experience. Proposed Salary $52,704

- Independently manages assigned HR functional areas with a high degree of accuracy, organization, and accountability, ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinates full-cycle recruitment and hiring activities, including job postings, candidate communications, interview logistics, and pre-boarding processes, while providing a positive candidate experience.
- Administers faculty employment and compensation processes, including preparation of offer letters, pay actions, PAR transactions, and employment-related documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Maintains working knowledge of applicable policies and regulations related to faculty employment, foreign nationals, and employment compliance, ensuring all processes align with institutional, state, and federal requirements.
- Manages multiple responsibilities and deadlines simultaneously, demonstrates sound judgment, and maintains strict confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Communicates effectively with faculty, staff, candidates, and leadership, providing guidance on HR procedures and ensuring a high level of customer service.
- Collaborates with HR colleagues and campus partners to ensure consistent service delivery and supports continuous process improvement efforts.
- Maintains accurate records and monitors timelines for key processes such as faculty lifecycle actions, compliance activities, and case management (e.g., FMLA and ADA).
- Demonstrates adaptability, problem-solving ability, and initiative in resolving issues and improving assigned processes.
