Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a telemetry or neurology setting required. License: Valid Compact license required. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Must-Have: Experience in neurology nursing. Must be comfortable with the NIH scale and proficient in caring for post-surgical neurology patients.

Description: Position will float between units as needed. Every other weekend commitment is required. No on-call duties are required. Unit patient ratios are expected to be 1:5. Candidates must have neurology RN experience. Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, craniotomy, CVA, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, and care of post-neurosurgery patients is necessary. Familiarity with telemetry and traumatic brain injury is essential. Special procedures include being part of a designated stroke unit and thrombectomy capable. The facility is a Level II trauma center and a JCAHO designated Spine Center of Excellence. Interdisciplinary support is provided by various teams, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. The daily census is approximately 48 patients, and the unit allows for a capacity of 64 beds. References covering 1 year within the last 3 years are required prior to start. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities. Failure to comply with floating requirements may result in termination of assignment. Cell phones will be provided if required for the assignment. All time spent on training modules is included in non-billable hours. Module completion is recorded in training transcripts.
