Project Manager, Product Development

Persistent Systems is seeking a Project Manager, Product Development, to join our growing team. We are looking for a highly skilled and driven Project Manager to support new product development initiatives within a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong execution capabilities. The ability to operate seamlessly across Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid project management methodologies is a must. The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator, capable of aligning diverse stakeholders while ensuring projects are delivered to the highest quality. As a Project Manager, you will be a critical member of the Program Management Office (PMO) team.

This Project Manager, Product Development, must possess a strong understanding of product lifecycles, project management best practices, preferred experience in DoD or related industries and previous experience working with Engineering teams. The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, embracing change while maintaining focus on delivering results and operates well in an environment where priorities may shift quickly.

Position Responsibilities

  • Proven track record of leading end-to-end project management initiatives from concept through product launch
  • Track and support the definition and refinement of project scope, requirements, deliverables, timelines and resource constraints according to project management best practices
  • Manage and adapt project plans and roadmaps using Agile, Waterfall and hybrid methodologies based on project needs
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including product, engineering, operations, accounting, external vendors, etc. for success of efforts
  • Collaborating with engineering leads to monitoring project progress, identifying risks and opportunities, and implementing mitigation strategies proactively
  • Ensure clear, consistent communication across stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement in project management processes and team efficiency
  • Balance multiple priorities with competing timelines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Provides executive level quality reporting
  • Facilitate and guide technical discussions with engineering, and product teams to align architecture, technical requirements, and product design decisions that meet product and business objectives
  • Manages all project artifacts, including plans, schedules, budgets, risk registers, and status reports, ensuring transparency and traceability throughout the project lifecycle
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure accurate project reporting and budget tracking, collaborating with project specialists, finance, and operations teams
  • Lead communication between internal teams to deliver and support the RFX process as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience managing engineering or new product development efforts
  • Demonstrated expertise in Agile, Waterfall and hybrid project management methodologies
  • Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams
  • Experience using OKRs, KPIs, or other performance frameworks to align project outcomes with organizational goals
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Adaptable and resilient team player
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, Confluence
  • Available to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Ability to obtain United States Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification
  • Master's degree in engineering or business administration (MBA)
  • Understanding of product development practices such as user story mapping, product road mapping, and stakeholder alignment
  • Experience with implementing project management processes in larger organizations
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools or dashboards (e.g., Power BI) for tracking team and project metrics
  • Strong understanding of product development lifecycles and go-to-market processes
  • ERP and CRM experience with SalesForce, INFOR or similar
  • Experience in high-growth organizations
  • Background in technical or product focused industries

The base pay for this role can vary from $102,000 to $156,000 a year based on individual qualifications. Eligibility for yearly discretionary bonus.
