CAD Designer - ETOLocation: Houston TX Duration: 12+ Months Pay: $45.00/hr – $63.00/hr on W2 without benefits Shift: Mon-Fri 8-5Summary: Job Title: DCN Mechanical Designer No Relocation Local Houston Candidates Only A Hybrid work model - In Office on Monday and Wednesday and every other Friday.Computer SkillsMastery knowledge and proficiency in:Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)PDF Editor (Adobe, Foxit, or other equivalent)Solid Works (required)Autodesk AutoCADNavisworks Manager / FreedomJob DescriptionThe role of Mechanical / Structural Designer is to support the Engineers and Engineering Manager in providing 3D models, drawings and equipment BOM as per customer requirements independently.The Mechanical / Structural Designer will support the service personnel in solving problems by simulating the problems in drawings. The Mechanical / Structural Designer will be able to work on simple Engineering Work Request and comply with all departmental Work Instructions and Engineering Standards.The Mechanical / Structural Designer will be responsible for creating and checking drawings / designs; interface communication, and ensuring the accuracy, reliability, efficiency, and safety of the mechanical, piping, and structuralscopes of work for Hyperscale Data Center Modules meets customer's requirements and Industrial Standards they produce.The Mechanical / Structural Designer is expected to resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and analysis of factual informationRoles and ResponsibilitiesThe Designer will support the goals and programs established by the management team. These roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:Provide and check drawings / BOM as per customer requirements.Prepare bulk MTOs (Material Take Offs) and detailed BOMs (Bill of Materials) with no supervision from Engineer (preferred)Ensure drawings follow the Engineering and QA/QC standards.Prepare and complete various Mechanical, Piping, Structural deliverable drawings and documents such as piping layout/general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping schedule, piping tie-point/ interface drawings, piping insulation details, structural general arrangement drawings, structural weld details /notes, structural connection detail drawings, foundation support details, equipment mounting / support details, pipe support details, weight / COG reports, manual valve list, HVAC ducting, instrumentation, flow diagrams, Process and Instrument Diagrams, pump alignment drawings, handrails / ladders, walkways, and stairs as per OSHA, platform and grating detailed drawings, etc.Supervise the outsourcing of engineering design work to 3rd party engineering / design firms.Review, as required, vendor data and drawings to ensure compliance with client specifications or applicable standards.Produce report data from models and assist in providing necessary design information to Project/Client/Third Party, as required.Provide "Lessons learned" feedback and utilize findings from the process to update tools and procedures.Qualifications and Education RequirementsEducational:Designer should be in possession of a Technical Certification in the design discipline or min 10 years experience.Experience:A minimum of 5 years of experience mechanical, piping, and structural scopes of work.Ability to produce drawings / sketches to illustrate design / ideas.Experience with high-density data centers and hyperscale environments (preferred)Understanding of the purpose of electrical system for facilities.General Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations, including but not limited to:AHRI – Air-Conditioning, Heating, & Refrigeration InstituteANSI – American National Standards InstituteAWS – American Welding SocietyIBC – International Building CodeMFMA – Metal Framing Manufactures AssociationClient – Manufactures Standardization Society (Valves and Fittings Industry)OSHA – Occupational Safety and Health AdministrationNFPA – National Fire Protection AssociationExperience working with computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) softwareMastery knowledge and proficiency in:Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)PDF Editor (Adobe, Foxit, or other equivalent)Solid WorksAutodesk AutoCADNavisworks Manager / FreedomOperational knowledge in:SAP (ERP Tool w/ Engineering Modules and Transactions)Autodesk RevitAutodesk BIM 360Language:Fluency, both written and verbal, in English.GeneralExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Performs well under pressure in high stress environments.Extremely comfortable with task switching as priorities change.Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients.Ability to think creatively and identify opportunities to enhance the client experience.Extreme work ethic and maintains high level of quality of work and due diligence.Communication Skills:Express complex ideas effectively in both individual and group situations.Organize and express ideas clearly in written documents.Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with a cross-functional team
