Order Picker / Warehouse Associate

This role supports a busy warehouse operation by safely operating forklifts and other material handling equipment, accurately picking and moving products, and performing general warehouse and inventory control tasks. You will work primarily on a 1st shift schedule while adapting to fluctuating hours and occasional weekend work as business needs change.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move products, parts, and materials safely throughout the warehouse.
• Pick and stage orders accurately using handheld devices, RF scanners, and order documentation in line with customer expectations.
• Perform order picking, packing, packaging, loading, and unloading of materials, including the use of pallet jacks and related equipment.
• Handle shipping and receiving tasks, including verifying incoming and outgoing shipments and ensuring products are stored in the correct locations.
• Maintain accurate inventory through regular cycle counting and inventory control activities.
• Read, interpret, and follow work orders and related documentation to ensure correct products and quantities are processed.
• Lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds as needed throughout the shift.
• Work at heights when required and follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
• Perform general labor and housekeeping tasks around the warehouse, including organizing, cleaning, and maintaining work areas.
• Adapt to fluctuating daily workloads and schedules, including occasional weekend work, to support customer and operational needs.
• Use RF scanner guns and other handheld devices to track inventory movements and update system records in real time.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize tasks and ensure timely completion of work orders.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience working in a warehouse environment, preferably in manufacturing or distribution.
• Hands-on forklift operating experience, including stand-up and sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet jacks.
• Demonstrated order picking and order picker experience in a fast-paced warehouse setting.
• Strong inventory control experience, including experience with cycle counting and warehouse inventory management.
• Ability to use handheld devices, RF scanners, and RF scanner guns to pick orders and track inventory.
• Capability to read, interpret, and follow work orders and customer instructions accurately.
• Comfort working at heights and following safety practices while operating equipment or accessing elevated areas.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding general labor tasks.
• Flexibility to work a fluid schedule with fluctuating hours and occasional weekends.
• Willingness to perform a variety of warehouse duties and not remain on a forklift for the entire shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including loading and unloading trucks.
• Experience in material handling, including picking, packing, and packaging of products.
• Familiarity with stand-up forklifts, sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks in a warehouse environment.
• General labor experience in industrial or warehouse settings.
• Attention to detail and accuracy when handling inventory and fulfilling work orders.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a busy warehouse.
• Strong adherence to safety procedures and best practices while operating equipment and performing manual tasks.

Work Environment

This position is based in a warehouse setting that supports manufacturing and distribution activities. The standard schedule is 1st shift, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with hours that may fluctuate depending on workload and occasional weekend requirements. You will work around forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, and other material handling equipment, frequently using RF scanners and handheld devices to manage inventory and orders. The environment involves regular lifting, standing, walking, and working at heights, with a strong focus on safe equipment operation and adherence to warehouse safety protocols. Dress is typical for industrial warehouse work, with appropriate workwear and safety gear required to perform tasks comfortably and safely.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roanoke, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50/hr.
