Mobile Diesel Mechanic II

Job Overview Mobile Diesel Technician II responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Heavily relied upon for advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs, considered the lead on jobsites by customers and technicians. Duties Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, and differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various equipment types, using handheld computers and pressure gauges. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and use sound judgment. Manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre/post‑trip inspections. Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations. Prioritize concurrent tasks and allocate time effectively. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work according to company standards and upload photos on Repair Orders (RO) via the proprietary TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner. Work independently and manage own daily schedule. Maintain high productivity and adhere to standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary. Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals for repair estimates and other RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Maintain company‑issued service truck and perform safety checks and daily inspections. Requirements High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (or a higher degree/certification with 5 years of experience). At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties. OEM training and certifications are preferred. Participate in and complete all company‑required training. Must successfully complete a DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical (or a valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining). Must be at least 21 years old. Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor. Ability to perform repetitive tasks without tiring. Communicate succinctly and organize information; engage in effective two‑way communication. Determine appropriate tools and equipment needed. Accurately judge distance between objects. Use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternatives and solutions. Compensation Hourly pay rate in the range of $26.73 – $40.10 per hour. Salary may vary by location and candidate qualifications.
