Role Data Center Technician II assists in the operational integrity, security, and regulatory compliance of the data center. The technician should have a basic knowledge of telecommunications and data center operating procedures. They will acquire job skills and learn company policies and procedures to complete routine operations tasks and assignments. Shift Night Shift 11:00pm-7:00am, Sunday - Friday. Responsibilities Manage building service requests through resolution. Perform and complete work orders and customer service tickets in a timely manner. Remote Hands Management and Work Order Completion Process. Mine cables without disrupting existing data cabling on facility ladder rack or fiber trough. Infrastructure projects (Internal/Customer) including Cage and Cabinet Build-Outs, Overhead Installations, Rack and Stack, CMMS navigation, and problem solving using developed procedures. Assist in asset and consumable inventory management; proper labeling and tracking of equipment per procedures. Ensure SLA-related processes are completed and data uploaded to internal systems. Monitor and respond to abnormal conditions in mechanical, electrical, building monitoring, security, and control systems. Provide physical security within CoreSite premises; incident escalation and report writing. Provide day-to-day exceptional customer service and support; conduct regular facility and security tours. Notify customers and management of security system alarms and security breaches. Manage loading dock shipping and receiving; assist with systems to avoid unplanned outages. Adhere to CoreSite’s Principles of Operational Excellence and guiding principles. Requirements This position requires interaction with CoreSite personnel, vendors, partners, contractors, and clients. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Fundamentals and best practices of cabling media types; basic understanding of 568A/568B color codes. Familiar with CCTV and access-control security systems; strong communication and teamwork skills. Troubleshooting, problem solving, and ability to work in a 24x7 environment; concise reporting. Ability to learn quickly; independent and team-oriented work style; flexible scheduling. Operate hand and power tools; basic electrical knowledge and use of meters/infrared camera. Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook; CMMS systems awareness. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, fire life safety, and security systems in a data center environment. Education/Experience High School Diploma or higher. 2+ years experience in facilities or telecom industry; experience in a mission-critical facility is a plus. Physical Demands & Special Requirements Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach; ability to smell, hear, and speak. Must be comfortable in a high-stress, fast-paced environment; willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends and on-call support. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; other physical requirements as described.
