Assistant Professor of Surgery – Cardiac Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor of Surgery. The successful candidate will join an established group of nationally known surgeons. Our current staff of 5 cardiac surgeons performs approximately 2000 cardiac surgical procedures annually. The position supports the work of primary surgeons, procurement coverage, and acute care needs. The appointee will participate in the full spectrum of a cardiac surgical practice and has the opportunity to acquire skills in advanced techniques, including minimally invasive valve surgery and valve repair; aortic surgery; transplantation and mechanical support; robotics; and catheter-based approaches to aortic disease and valvular repair/replacement. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent; 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of New Jersey; and 3) have completed an accredited fellowship or equivalent training in cardiac surgery. Responsibilities Support primary surgeons and provide procurement coverage. Participate in acute care and the full spectrum of a cardiac surgical practice. Acquire advanced surgical skills in minimally invasive valve surgery, aortic surgery, transplantation, mechanical support, robotics, and catheter-based approaches. Qualifications MD, DO, or equivalent; hold or be eligible for medical licensure in New Jersey. Completed an accredited fellowship or equivalent training in cardiac surgery.
