Assistant Coach

The Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting the head coach to ensure that the head coach can lead the team, organize and implement game plans, and foster a positive and competitive environment. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the head coach and demonstrate an understanding of the sport. Minimum Qualification A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required. Advanced education above high school is preferred. Essential Responsibilities Team Leadership and Development: Develop and implement training programs to enhance player performance. Provide mentorship and support to players, fostering their physical, mental, and emotional development. Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback. Game Strategy and Planning: Analyze opponents and develop game plans and strategies to maximize team performance. Make real-time decisions during games to adapt strategies as needed. Lead meetings/practices when asked by the head coach to review performance and plan future games. Team Management: Collaborate with the head coach and other staff to ensure cohesive team operations. Assist with the selection of players Ensure all players adhere to team rules, policies, and standards. Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open lines of communication with players, coaching staff, and families. Foster a positive and inclusive team culture. Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze team and player performance metrics. Implement changes and improvements based on performance statistics. Administrative Duties: Assist in managing the team's schedule, including practices, games, and travel. Ensure compliance with DIAA rules and regulations. Competencies: Success in this position requires the following knowledge, skills, and abilities Knowledge Must have knowledge of DIAA rules and regulations. Must complete training regarding Title IX and Athletics. Must complete Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation ( CPR) and Concussion Training every two years. Must be familiar with Cape Henlopen School District's Policy 118 (Prohibited Actions of Employees) & Policy 551 (Electronic Communication & Social Media Policy). Must have experience and a detailed knowledge of online systems such as Recruiting and Hiring and Google Docs. Must possess online, digital skills to maintain records and to complete evaluations of coaching staff.
