Conversa Corps is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit built on a simple conviction: in a crisis, coordination saves lives. Drawing on 25+ years of experience facilitating real-time collaboration among teams, we help humanitarian aid, disaster response, and emergency management organizations connect and work as a "team of teams." Through free, easy-to-use tools like Aid Arena, our facilitated online chat space, and Aid Base, our global registry of response organizations, we break down the silos that slow relief down so helpers can find each other, share what they know, and mount a faster, more unified response when communities need it most.

The Opportunity

Conversa Corps is at an exciting inflection point. We've built something that matters, and now we're ready to tell our story in a way that teaches, inspires, and brings more people into the mission. We're looking for a talented instructional designer to help us do exactly that.

In this role, you'll design learning experiences that speak to a range of audiences, from new team members finding their footing, to the humanitarian and disaster-response organizations that rely on our tools, to the funders and partners who help power our work.

This is a volunteer, unpaid position. We are looking for someone who can commit to 6-10 hours per week over about two months for an initial sprint. Like all of us at Conversa Corps, you'd be donating your time and talent to a cause that matters. In return, you'll gain a substantial portfolio piece, hands-on collaboration with a recognized expert in crisis coordination, and the chance to apply your craft to a mission with real stakes, all on a flexible, remote schedule that fits around your other commitments.

What You'll Do:

• Partner with our subject-matter expert to translate raw content and organizational knowledge into clear, structured training
• Design a course outline and learning pathway that explains who we are, what we do, and how we do it
• Develop the training itself — modules, lessons, and supporting materials that are engaging and easy to follow
• Tailor learning content to different audiences, including new team members, partner organizations using our tools, and prospective funders and donors
• Apply instructional design and adult learning best practices to make the material effective and memorable
• Recommend appropriate formats and delivery methods for each audience and use case

What We're Looking For:

Essential:

• Experience turning subject-matter content into organized, teachable curriculum
• Working knowledge of instructional design fundamentals and adult learning principles
• Comfortable developing content across multiple formats (slide decks, e-learning, microlearning, video, job aids) and choosing the right one for each audience
• Clear, plain-language writing for non-expert audiences
• Comfort working independently and remotely toward agreed deadlines
• A collaborative approach to working with a subject-matter expert

Nice To have:

• Familiarity with a framework like ADDIE, SAM, or Bloom's Taxonomy
• Experience with common e-learning tools
• Background in nonprofit, humanitarian, disaster response, or emergency management
• Comfort with collaboration tools like Slack and Airtable

The Details:

• Volunteer, unpaid role
• Time commitment: 6–10 hours per week
• Duration: 2-3 months, with the opportunity to extend
• Fully remote; occasional video calls with the team
