Wine & Retail Sales Associate

Job Description:

Located in downtown Calistoga, CA Picayune Cellars & Mercantile is a destination tasting room and lifestyle leader offering vibrant wines, genuine experiences, a curated collection of unique merchandise, and simple food offerings. This position is responsible for all retail sales with an emphasis on wine tastings, club sign-ups, and wine sales. This is a full-time position with an opportunity to grow.

Tasting Room:
•  Customer Engagement
•  Greet guests positively, assess their needs, and offer them a customized experience.
•  Guide visitors through wine tasting flight while educating them about our background and philosophy.
•  Create a memorable experience for guests
•  Serve food and small bites
•  Collaborate with others for smooth and efficient service
Sales & Transactions
•  Sell wine, wine club membership, merchandise and food
•  Upsell and Cross-sell products
•  Recommend products, explain features
•  Convert guests to Wine Club Members
•  Process sales transactions accurately, count cash drawers, handle returns
•  Prepare, schedule, pack orders that need fulfillment
•  Product Knowledge
•  Educate yourself and maintain a working knowledge of our products and services
•  Share product knowledge with other teammates
•  Understand current promotions
•  Understand store policies
Store Operations
•  Monitor phone and emails
•  Keep wine and merchandise stocked
•  Maintain organized and clean store
•  Follow daily opening and closing procedures
•  Prepare tables and service stations for service, clean them afterward
•  Take daily wine inventory
•  Assist with mercantile inventory

Requirements:
•  Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis
•  Ability to work in a standing and/or walking position for long periods of time
•  Ability to effectively stock wine and non-wine merchandise, set up and break down structures, tables, etc., and be able to utilize dolly cart or other equipment to move heavy objects
•  Must be 21 years old and available to work weekends
