State Tested Nurse Aide

Assists in carrying out the resident plan of nursing care as directed by the charge nurse; observes residents and notes physical condition, behavior, attitude, reactions, appetite etc. and reports changes or unusual findings to the charge nurse. Dresses and/or assists residents to dress ensuring that all residents are properly and comfortably clothed; assists resident with oral care, bathing (tub/showers/bath/whirlpool), hair care, shampoo, shaving, trimming nails and other personal care activities. Assists residents to the bathroom in advance of need. Assures incontinent residents are clean and dry. Assists residents in bowel and bladder training. Transports residents to and from dining areas. Feeds residents as necessary while encouraging them to do as much for themselves as they are able. Serves refreshments and fluids. Charts intake on dietary intake sheets. Weighs residents and reports any discrepancies. Assists in the restorative and rehabilitative care of the residents. Maintains awareness of principles of rehabilitation in all care given to residents. Ensures that safety devises are in use and that safety precautions are followed. Safely lifts and moves residents, transferring from chair to bed, bed to commode, etc. Maintains proper positioning in bed and chair. Answers call lights and attends to resident needs promptly. Gives and receives resident status reports. Maintains pertinent records; ensures compliance of all documentation required. Interacts with other staff, residents, family members and visitors in a customer service oriented manner. Willing to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily covering staff absences and during emergencies. Attends required in-service meetings and periodic STNA meetings. Completes all in-service training within the required time frame. Consistent and reliable attendance is required. This is a bargaining unit position. Wood County is a nicotine‑free environment.
