Medical Director of Pediatric Immunotherapy (San Francisco)

Position Description

UCSF School of Medicine and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals are seeking a highly qualified Medical Director of Pediatric Immunotherapy to lead the Immunotherapy Program within the Division of Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) in the Department of Pediatrics. This leadership role spans both the San Francisco and Oakland campuses and involves clinical responsibilities, strategic program development, and advancing clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and ongoing management of the Pediatric Immunotherapy Program, including preparing for FACT inspection as part of the broader BMT & Cellular Therapy Program.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership to develop a comprehensive growth strategy for the program.
• Work closely with the Cancer Center's Living Therapeutics Initiative to advance investigator-initiated cellular therapy products to clinical trials.
• Work collaboratively within the Division of Pediatric Oncology or Pediatric BMT depending on clinical and research interests.

Minimum Qualifications

• Medical degree and license.
• Board eligibility or certification in Pediatrics.
• Board eligibility or certification in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology or Allergy and Immunology.
• Significant experience with CAR-T therapy.
• Experience conducting clinical trials of cellular therapies.

Preferred Qualifications

• National reputation for innovative work in clinical trials of cellular therapies.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
• Prior leadership experience in an academic setting.
• Strong interest in a career in academic pediatrics.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage across diverse forums.

Salary

For positions that are 51% effort or more: the posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step. The minimum base salary range is $131,200‑$344,400, with eligibility for additional compensation under the health sciences compensation plan.

For positions that are 50% effort or less: a reasonable estimate is $93,700‑$246,000.
