Veterans Services Specialist (Three positions) Department: Veterans' Services Palomar College Date Opened: 08/31/2026 Close Date: 09/14/2026 Primary Function Performs the full range of duties associated with certification and processing of student applications for Veterans Administration (VA) educational benefits in accordance with all applicable legal requirements and guidelines; serves as the VA School Certifying Official with responsibility for all compliance activities on behalf of the District; under general supervision, responsible for researching the scope and requirements of a variety of VA programs, scholarships and grants; participates in hiring, schedules and oversees the work of short-term, volunteer and student workers; plans and implements a variety of on- and off-campus activities and events; serves as liaison for Veterans Services programs with the VA, the District and students. Salary $5,733.10 [step 1] – $6,963.41 [step 5]. Step placement may be negotiable within this range dependent upon education and experience. Minimum Qualifications Experience: Three years of experience involving college admissions, enrollment or records, and/or administrative support experience while serving in any branch of the U.S. military Note: For work experience, a "year" is defined as equivalent to 40 hours per week for 12 months. Education: Equivalent to an associate's degree in business administration or a related field. Transcripts must be included to receive credit for education and/or to substitute education in lieu of experience (i.e. Bachelor's degree = 4 years of experience).
