Job Description

This role provides essential environmental services within a major hospital facility by performing thorough cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, common areas, hallways, and restrooms. The EVS Technician helps maintain a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff, including support in surgical and treatment areas.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms following discharge, ensuring all surfaces and high-touch areas are properly sanitized.
• Perform general cleaning of common areas, hallways, and restrooms to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
• Conduct terminal cleaning of rooms and areas, including those used for surgical procedures and patient treatments, in accordance with hospital protocols.
• Sweep, mop, and deep clean floors and surfaces in assigned areas on a regular schedule.
• Handle environmental services tasks such as trash removal, replenishing supplies, and maintaining cleanliness standards throughout the facility.
• Follow established infection prevention and control procedures while working in patient care and surgical areas.
• Use appropriate cleaning agents, tools, and equipment safely and according to hospital guidelines.
• Report any maintenance or safety issues observed during cleaning activities to the appropriate personnel.
• Work assigned shifts of 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on variable days, including all weekends and holidays as scheduled.
• Comply with all hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements related to environmental services.

Essential Skills

• Experience in environmental services, housekeeping, custodial work, or a similar cleaning role, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
• Ability to perform general and deep cleaning tasks including mopping, sweeping, and disinfecting surfaces.
• Comfort working in surgical areas and spaces where patients receive treatment, following strict cleaning protocols.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness and sanitation standards.
• Ability to work the 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. shift on variable days, including all weekends and holidays.
• Willingness to undergo and successfully complete compliance requirements.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift as needed to perform cleaning duties throughout the shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience as an EVS Technician, housekeeper, or custodian in a hospital or clinical environment.
• Familiarity with terminal cleaning procedures in surgical and treatment areas.
• Experience using a variety of cleaning chemicals and equipment safely in a professional setting.
• Strong reliability and punctuality for late afternoon and evening shifts.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interaction in patient care areas.
• Willingness to complete required medical screenings, such as TB skin testing, in line with facility policies.

Work Environment

The position is based in a hospital facility, working primarily indoors in patient rooms, hallways, restrooms, common areas, and surgical or treatment spaces. The schedule consists of two positions on a 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. shift with variable days, including all weekends and holidays, providing consistent evening and night-time work. The role involves frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting while using standard housekeeping and environmental services equipment and cleaning agents. You will work within a structured, policy-driven environment that emphasizes infection prevention, safety, and cleanliness in all areas of the hospital.

This is a Contract position based out of Pasadena, CA 91105.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
