SIEM & Security Data Staff Engineer

Salary: $164,780 - 314,960 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree, or 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
• 8 years of related experience in security engineering and/or information technology within a large organization, major consulting firm, or the U.S. military.
• Expert security consulting skills delivering modern security infrastructure solutions and applying technology and IT business models to emerging workforce needs.
• Advanced knowledge of emerging security technologies and developments in existing technologies.
• Mastery of complex system and environment analysis, design, optimization, and hardening; subject matter expertise in information security and/or cybersecurity theories, techniques, and technologies.
• Exceptional relationship-building skills, including the ability to collaborate, communicate, and establish trust across organizational levels, including with senior executives.
• Extensive experience explaining and influencing complex technology decisions with technical and nontechnical audiences and cross-functional and enterprise teams.
• Deep expertise with SIEM platforms such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Google SecOps, Elastic, or QRadar, or use of data lakes such as Snowflake or Databricks for security logging; experience designing and optimizing large-scale security monitoring and analytics environments.
• Strong security telemetry engineering background, including log collection, normalization, enrichment, parsing, and data quality management across cloud, on-premises, application, identity, and endpoint sources.
• Experience building and maintaining scalable data pipelines with technologies such as Kafka, Cribl, Kinesis, Event Hubs, data lake architectures, cloud-native services, or comparable high-volume processing platforms.
• Advanced knowledge of security operations, threat detection engineering, threat hunting, incident response, and MITRE ATT&CK, with the ability to translate security use cases into telemetry and detection requirements.
• Proficiency in scripting, automation, and data analysis using Python, PowerShell, SQL, or similar technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional engineering initiatives, influence technical strategy, and partner with application, infrastructure, cloud, and security teams.

• Provide technical leadership for our security logging, telemetry, and SIEM strategy, ensuring high-quality data supports monitoring, detection, and response.
• Partner with application owners, infrastructure teams, and security engineers to onboard data sources, optimize pipelines, and improve data quality, normalization, and parsing.
• Advance our security telemetry capabilities to support analytics, automation, threat hunting, and future security operations.
• Serve as a system engineer and solution architect, identifying inefficiencies and security risks and designing solutions for complex systems and networks.
• Lead scalable security solution design across domains and portfolios, establishing implementation patterns aligned with technical architecture.
• Deliver complex security solution architecture and implementations, acting as a subject matter expert and improving service delivery and tooling across portfolios.
• Advise and lead cross-functional delivery teams addressing complex security engineering challenges and accelerating critical decisions that affect our security posture.
• Analyze threat and compliance trends and changes in relation to organizational risk.
• Represent us in technical security discussions with auditors, regulators, and external suppliers.
• Collaborate with senior executives and architects on feasible approaches to security engineering risk and compliance issues.
• Own security engineering decisions, identifying, planning, and applying advanced security solution concepts and principles.
• Build prototypes and proofs of concept for emerging security technologies and influence enterprise implementation priorities.
• Translate business, security, and engineering objectives into achievable controls and oversee their technical implementation.
• Ensure business risks are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in line with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
