Job Summary

*Household Manager/Family Assistant*

Start Date: ASAP

Hours:

• 15-20 hours guaranteed
• Any 2-4 days/week, M-Th, after 9 am
• Tuesday/Thursday afternoons would be great, but not required

Pets : 1 dog and 1 bearded dragon

Hourly Rate: $30-37/hour

Paid Vacation:

• 1 week paid family’s choice
• 1 week paid nanny’s choice
• All major holidays that fall on a workday

Responsibilities and Duties

WHO/WHAT: There are some household tasks that absolutely should not be happening at 1:00 a.m. Laundry is one of them. This Wexford mom has a demanding executive career, Dad travels often for work, two school-aged kids have places to be, and somewhere between work, activities, groceries, laundry, meal prep, appointments, school spirit days, and wondering why the toilet paper is suddenly gone again, the household list just keeps growing.

They don't need a full-time nanny anymore. They don't need someone hovering around the house waiting to be told what to do. And thanks to a wonderful weekly cleaning service, they don't need someone scrubbing showers all day. What they do need is a really capable extra set of hands. Think of this role as part Household Manager, part Family Assistant, occasional kid chauffeur, and professional life-smoother. You'll come in for 15–20 hours each week and tackle whatever will make the biggest difference: knock out the laundry, restock the refrigerator, prep a couple of dinners, organize a closet, return the Amazon packages, or notice that winter is coming and somehow both kids have outgrown every pair of pants they own. They're hoping this next person becomes another trusted fixture in their lives for years to come.

THE JOB: You'll arrive and immediately know where to start: unload the dishwasher, clear the kitchen counters, restock a few household staples, and get the house feeling caught up again. You'll help with family laundry, changing sheets and towels, tidying common areas, wiping down bathroom counters, sweeping or vacuuming high-traffic areas, watering plants, tossing expired food, and keeping the spaces everyone uses most feeling organized and cared for. You're helping maintain the home between cleanings and tackling the practical little things that tend to pile up during a busy week.

Notice the milk is low? Add it to the list. Running out of detergent? Restock it. Refrigerator starting to resemble an archaeological dig? Clear out the mystery containers and expired salad dressing. You'll grocery shop, keep staples stocked, help with meal prep, and prep simple family dinners. You'll wash, fold, and put away family laundry and periodically help organize the kids' closets. If it's October and neither child owns a winter coat that fits, you're the person who notices before the first freezing morning. There will also be returns, dry cleaning, donation drop-offs, scheduling a repair, keeping a running list of house projects, or occasionally taking a vehicle for an oil change. The family uses a Skylight calendar and would love someone who can help keep schedules, activities, and household lists updated without requiring Mom to manage the process.

And yes, there are kids here—but this isn't primarily a nanny job. The children are 11 and 9 and are wonderfully independent. If you’re working a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon, it could be helpful for you to drive them to an activity. On a school day off, you might take them to lunch or a movie, help them get where they need to go, or simply be another trusted adult in their world. The kids' opinion matters to this family, too. They're old enough to know whom they click with, and Mom wants them to feel comfortable and excited about the person joining their home. You'll also encounter a friendly dog who may happily accept a walk now and then.

THE IDEAL HOUSEHOLD MANAGER IS... A NOTICE-IT-AND-DO-IT PERSON. You don't need a laminated checklist explaining every move. If the dishwasher is clean, you unload it. If you're putting groceries away and notice the refrigerator needs a wipe-down, you handle it. If you see they're almost out of paper towels, they magically appear on the next shopping trip. You'll absolutely have projects and priorities from Mom, but what she's really hoping to find is someone with enough common sense and household intuition to see what needs doing and run with it.

You're reliable in the truest sense of the word. You're organized, trustworthy, kind, polished, and comfortable representing the family out in the world. You also understand that Mom may need to communicate primarily through text between meetings and you’re happy to help keep things moving without requiring a 45-minute kitchen conference every time you come to work. You love variety. One day might be laundry, groceries, and meal prep. Another might involve organizing a closet, driving a child to an activity, making a Target return, and figuring out why the dishwasher smells weird.
