Job Description
Technical Accounting Consultant — Contract
\nSHR Talent is partnering with an organization seeking an experienced Technical Accounting Consultant for a project-based contract engagement. This individual will review accounting for significant transactions, reconcile supporting schedules to the general ledger, and prepare technical accounting memoranda supporting the conclusions and entries recorded.
\n \nKey Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Acquisition accounting: Review supporting workbooks for two acquisitions, incorporate purchase price adjustments, and reconcile purchase price and acquired asset balances to the general ledger. Prepare technical memoranda addressing ASC 805 and evaluate whether recorded entries align with the accounting conclusions. \n
- Consolidation accounting: Evaluate whether certain professional corporations should be included in the consolidated financial statements and prepare technical memoranda addressing ASC 810. \n
- Disposition accounting: Review agreements, supporting workbooks, and journal entries for two dispositions to assess accuracy and completeness. Review the amounts classified as discontinued operations. \n
- Debt accounting: Evaluate two debt amendments to determine whether modification or extinguishment accounting applies. Strengthen supporting analyses and prepare technical memoranda documenting the conclusions. \n
Qualifications
\n- \n
- Strong technical accounting experience applying U.S. GAAP to complex transactions. \n
- Demonstrated experience with business combinations, consolidation assessments, dispositions, discontinued operations, and debt modifications or extinguishments. \n
- Ability to independently review transaction agreements, reconcile supporting schedules, and identify necessary accounting adjustments. \n
- Strong technical research and memo-writing skills. \n
- CPA and public accounting or accounting advisory experience preferred. \n
