API Test Engineer - Exempt

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced API Test Engineer to design, execute, and automate testing for REST based APIs supporting mission critical, bi directional system integrations. This role focuses on service level testing and plays a key part in ensuring API reliability, security, and readiness for production.


The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of REST APIs, hands on experience with API testing tools, and the ability to translate technical requirements into robust test scenarios across functional, negative, and integration cases.


Scenarios include:

• Positive scenarios (valid inputs)
• Negative scenarios (invalid/missing data)
• Boundary conditions
• Error handling and edge cases

Commonly referenced tools in internal materials include:

• Postman
• SoapUI
• JMeter
• Ping API
• vREST

n API tester needs to understand:

• methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE)
• Status codes (200, 201, 400, 401, 403, 404, 500, 429)
• Request/response headers
• JSON request and response bodies

Required Skills/ Experience

• 5+ years of system testing, writing and executing test cases
• pplication testing experience related to REST API

Required Software/ Technology

• Postman
• SoapUI
• JMeter
• Ping API
• vREST

Preferred Software/ Technology

• Selenium

Preferred Education/ Certifications

• Bachelor's degree

dditional Information:

• Duration: 12-month contract opportunity
• Hybrid Work Model: 4 days onsite required weekly in Pittsburgh, Lake Mary, or NYC
• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM EST
• Rate Range: $70-75/hr. W2 (based on experience)
