Food Service Technician

Dayton Public Schools is searching for qualified candidates for the role of Food Service Technician. This person will be responsible for ensuring that equipment is in peak operating condition. This person will report directly to the Director of Nutrition Services.

(Incumbent performs a majority of the following duties)

• Maintains specialized packaging equipment and vending equipment at the Central Kitchen and high schools.
• Is completely responsible for repair, stocking parts, and preventative maintenance of food service equipment.
• Must time and set the Racque Packing Machine.
• Works with Quality Control Manager to maintain proper packaging speed and correct seal on all meals packaged in the Central Kitchen.
• Orders all parts for food service equipment and vending machines.
• Provides preventative maintenance for Central Kitchen packaging equipment.
• Daily set the timing of the Racque Packaging Machine and the Panda Packaging Machine.
• Daily set the portion sizes for each filler and the timing to coincide with the packaging lines.
• Daily change the heat-seal equipment to hooding equipment.
• Must be available for equipment repairs during the packaging of each meal.
• Must provide all needed repairs and maintenance upon packaging equipment and vending machines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S
• Reliable transportation

Verifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

Knowledge & Experience

• One to two years' experience in food service equipment maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control
• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
• Ability to read and write
• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
• Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
• Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods
• Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards

Physical Attributes/Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and is occasionally required to walk, stand, lift/carry, push/pull, balance, reach/handle objects, and perform repetitive motions. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
• Work environment is performed in a school setting.
