Health Education Coordinator / Grant WriterWrites, revises, and edits drafts including clinical and health research-related funding proposals, letters (e.g., of intent, support, collaboration etc.), progress reports, research summaries, award submissions, and plain-language documents. Conveys scientific research and clinical concepts clearly and effectively.Pay Rate: $75,000 Per Year - DOE.Competitive Salary, based on experience.Excellent Benefits Package.Relocation Assistance Available.Direct Hire.Full-time.Monday - Friday.Hours: 8:30am - 4:30pm.Onsite with Availability To Be Remote One Day a Week.Setting: Occupational Health Clinical Center.Location: Syracuse, NY.Position Overview:Excellent communication skills needed.Communication skills are crucial for success of the position.Successfully be able to write health grants, the justification for the grants and move the health grants through the proper channels.Important Outreach for the clinic.Research in public health field.The ability to be able to provide education on different health issues.Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of preventive Occupational Health services consistent with the Center's mission.These activities include outreach, education, research, and other projects that often require collaboration within the center and with external individuals and organizations.Job Duties:Willingness to make connections with leaders in the community, i.e. union leaders, attorneys etc.Oversee ongoing development of outreach and education program.Participate in the design and conduction of outreach and education activities.Develop a Needs Assessment to focus activities.Develop methods to increase program awareness generally and among target groups.Coordinate and provide oversight activities of agencies with whom the Occupational Health Clinical Center contracts for outreach services.Locating and organizing data necessary to support the various center's projects.Develop educational materials for distribution.Analyzing data from research and other projects and writing up the results for publications and other reports.Maintain Occupational Health Clinical Center resource library.Development of grant proposals to fund specific Occupational Health Clinical Center projects.Respond to requests for technical assistance from staff, patients, medical community, unions, and others.Academic Duties:Once a year the opportunity to teach 1-2 graduate courses/seminars for medical and public health students.Supervise master's in public health and other students utilizing Occupational Health Clinical Center as a field placement site.Capable of research projects.Mentor Master in Public Health or medical students on independent research projects.Teach individual modules as needed within Health Systems Science Intersession on Population Health.Qualifications:Must have a master's in public health with additional graduate-level training focused on social and behavioral dimensions of occupational health.Public health experience.Must have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in academic and occupational health settings.Doctoral degree in Public Health, or related social science, preferred.Must have high levels of initiative and commitment to the field of occupational health.Must have a passion for public health, and a willingness to undertake a range of duties, from analyzing data to engaging with workers in the community.Must have project management skills.Must possess the ability to provide support for scholarly activities in the field of occupational health including proficiency in medical, public health, and social science literatures.Must have the ability to identify and coordinate collaboration with academic and community-based organizations, work on interdisciplinary teams, interface with advisory board members, and/or external professionals.Must have knowledge of research skills, including:The ability to extract data from a variety of sources.Apply computer applications (e.g. SAS, Excel, NVivo, Maxq) for data analysis.Prepare written work for publication and grant preparation and public presentations.An academia background is beneficial.Why is This a Great Opportunity:About the regions: Syracuse is close to Onondaga Lake with unique shops, spectacular restaurants, lovely lakeshore trails.
