Training Specialist Aviation (SUASC-SUAS TRAINING INSTRUCTOR)

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Training Specialist developing programs of instruction for the Small Unmanned Aerial Systems and Counter- Small Unmanned Aerial Systems for the Training and Air Operations Branch of the Air Force Security Forces Center Detachment 3 a Primary Sub Unit (PSU) of the Air Force Installations and Mission Support Center.

Duties

• Prepares technical articles technical letters guidance training and other official publications and forms of information transfer for the Air Force regarding the SUAS and C-SUAS programs.
• Develops reviews and revises SUAS/C-SUAS flying training instructional materials in accordance with established learning objectives.
• Using training experience and knowledge of SUAS/C-SUAS flying training develops the plan and measurement devices for measuring achievement of instructional objectives.
• Performs Government Flight Representative (GFR) duties in accordance with DCMA Instruction as a Government civilian in an Aviation position.

Education

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

Experience

General Experience (for GS-5 positions): Experience that provided evidence of the ability to instruct students in the use of equipment principles or practices of the subject or occupation. This experience may have been gained as a teacher or instructor; in on-the-job supervision or instruction of subordinates or fellow workers; or in work involving application of the principles practices and techniques of the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled.

Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:

• Teaching or instructing in an adult education program secondary school college military installation or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
• Supervising or administering a training program.
• Development or review of training/course materials aids devices etc. and evaluation of training results.
• Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02 equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:

• Teaching or instructing in an adult education program secondary school college military installation or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
• Supervising or administering a training program.
• Development or review of training/course materials aids devices etc. and evaluation of training results.
• Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge skills abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

• Mastery knowledge of the concepts principles practices standards methods techniques materials and equipment associated with SUAS and C-SUAS programs. Expert knowledge of military Federal Aviation Administration or International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) SUAS regulations and operating procedures expert knowledge of flight operations (manned or unmanned) and working knowledge of fixed and deployable C-SUAS equipment and technology is critical to the successful performance of the work.

• Expert knowledge of the laws rules regulations and procedures governing the conduct of ATC operations and the separation of aircraft in terminal radar approach control and control tower operations and of the functional and operational limitations of ATC equipment such as: radar systems navigational aids weather indicators remote status indicators radios landlines recording equipment ATC simulation systems.

• Knowledge of OSD AF USNORTHCOM and other COCOM SUAS and C-SUAS regulations policy directives/instructions and guidance as necessary and the relationship of the various Air Force entities involved in overall planning and execution of military operations and evaluations and the way the PPBS process supports them.

• Ability to gather assemble and analyze facts draw conclusions conduct analysis devise recommended solutions and package the entire process in briefings papers or reports suitable for top management use and decision-making. Ability to plan organize and lead others in studies or projects and to negotiate effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations where proposals involve substantial resources and require extensive changes in established concepts and procedures.

• Skill in review and analysis techniques and methods to appraise assigned programs or projects; identify needs and solutions; develop goals policies and procedures; monitor progress; and evaluate success.

• Ability to apply the principles and techniques of education and to help students acquire specific skills or knowledge.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE : Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE : Refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
