Faust Winery Lab/Cellar Harvest Intern

Lab Tech– Harvest - Manager - Winemaker

Faust Wines is looking for a hardworking, self-motivated individual to join us for harvest at our Sebastopol winery. We are a small, passionate team that works with multiple wine grape varietals sourced from our organically farmed estates and grower owned vineyards in Napa and Sonoma counties. Weekly team lunches will be provided as well as many opportunities to explore our critically acclaimed wines. Applicants are responsible for their own housing and transportation.

Essential Duties

You will be actively involved with many stages of the winemaking process. This will include, but not be limited to:

• Perform routine juice panels and wine analysis including: Brix, pH, TA & DO.
• Daily Brix, Temp checks & Data Entry.
• Wine Sampling from tank and barrels.
• Organize wine samples for outside analysis as needed.
• Maintain lab cleanliness, inventory reagents and supplies.
• Perform additions, inoculations and assist with cellar activities as needed.
• Ability to work in the cellar with the winemaking team as necessary. This is a role that will assist the production team when lab responsibilities are complete on a day-to-day basis.

Qualifications

Basic lab skills – including pipetting, titration, and the ability to follow protocols. High school diploma required, bachelor's degree in enology or science preferred. Minimum experience will include 2 harvests with at least 1 as a lab tech. Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills (English). Proficient in Excel & Word (Vintrace experience a plus). Possess a high attention to detail. A positive attitude, open and curious – asks thoughtful questions. Must be legally able to work in the USA.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work a flexible schedule, such as early mornings, and weekends, to accommodate the needs of harvest operations. Ability to climb stairs and lift cases of wine, up to ~50 lbs. Requires the ability to sit bend, stoop, twist and walk over uneven surfaces for prolonged periods of time. Able to stand for long periods of time.
