Job Description Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician will: Process and distribute prescriptions and over-the-counter medications to patients at discharge Enter prescription data into the computer system and maintain accurate records in compliance with pharmacy standards Handle patient payments and process billing transactions, including insurance verification and prior authorization requests Stock, organize, and maintain pharmacy inventory with attention to expiration dates and proper storage conditions Communicate and interact professionally with patients and healthcare staff, including nursing and discharge planning teams Provide basic medication counseling and patient education under pharmacist supervision, ensuring patients understand proper medication usage Verify prescription accuracy and completeness prior to patient pickup, flagging any discrepancies for pharmacist review Coordinate with clinical departments to ensure timely medication availability for patient discharge Handle controlled substances and other restricted medications in accordance with state and federal regulations Qualifications EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. Minimum of six (6) months of retail pharmacy experience preferred. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Requires valid State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician license. #J-18808-Ljbffr Henry Ford Health
