Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night shift RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit requiring ventilator and tracheostomy experience along with a CT or compact RN license.

Details

• MS/Tele unit within a Level I Trauma Center, short term acute care hospital
• Overflow vent patients requiring trach experience
• Patient ratios average 1:5-6 across days, nights, and weekends
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-07:00
• Every other weekend required
• May float frequently between sister units NP1 and EP 4-6
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system
• Assignment includes patients on pulmonary vents and vent weaning, along with up to 5 non-vent patients

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required, or must apply prior to start date
• BLS certification required, NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years accepted if from a Level I trauma center or large hospital)
• Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
• Ventilator care experience required
• Tracheostomy care and management experience required
• Non-invasive airway management skills required
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management experience required
• Rapid Response/Code team experience required
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care experience required
• Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory and ventilator care including weaning support for pulmonary vent patients
• Manage tracheostomy care and non-invasive airway interventions
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and respond to dysrhythmias and emergencies
• Participate in Rapid Response/Code team activations as needed
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with medical or religious exemptions only
• Local candidates not accepted; candidates within 75 miles of the facility are considered local
• Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
