HVAC Truck Based Journeyman Mechanic (union)

Overview Johnson Controls Inc. is looking for forward‑thinking talent to support the fast‑growing HVAC business in North America. The role focuses on light commercial and/or heavy commercial HVAC services for advanced industrial equipment. Responsibilities Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems. Partner with Journeymen to repair centrifugal, steam turbines, and open‑drive screw chillers. Provide customer service that solves facility inefficiencies and resolves service‑related items. Act as a trusted advisor, offering solutions and outcomes during commissioning and aftermarket service. Provide recommendations, upsell opportunities, and accurate quotes to support customer needs. Use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drivelines and conduct mechanical shaft alignment with dial indicators. Maintain safety standards and follow all company safety initiatives. Participate in the Service Plus Rewards program and aid in training others. Qualifications Minimum of three years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, and compressors. Practical work experience in HVAC piping, plumbing, pipefitting, and mechanical equipment service. Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry. Willingness to travel 10% to 20% to support branch customers. Pass a knowledge examination assessing proficiencies in HVAC service. Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license. Strong interpersonal, digital, and written communication skills. Self‑starter with a passion to learn and apply on the job. Compensation and Benefits Pay Range: $40.25 hourly rate, determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
