Monitor Technician

Primary City/State: Mesa, Arizona Department Name: PCU-Monitor Techs-Hosp Work Shift: Day Job Category: Clinical Care Position Summary As a Monitor Technician you will perform a critical role in providing efficient patient care throughout the facility. You will monitor the cardiac rhythms of between 40 and 60 patients, using your attention to detail and communication skills to quickly identify and report dangerous rhythms and other clinical changes to the team. This is a full‑time day shift position working three 12‑hour shifts per week from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm, with a rotating weekend and holiday schedule. You will have the opportunity to use a self‑scheduling tool and receive a flat $1 per hour weekend shift differential when applicable. Core Functions Provides continuous observation of monitors, leads, and/or patient activity and behaviours for assigned patients, while being aware of their medical history, medications, and code status. Alerts clinical staff of any changes and abnormalities. Obtains calibrated rhythm strips as per policy and maintains documentation in accordance with facility standards. Documents changes in clinical and/or behavioural activity. Provides information and summaries to physicians and staff. Monitors and assists in the maintenance of monitoring equipment. May provide general support to the department, including greeting and assisting patients, visitors, physicians, and ancillary personnel. Works under general supervision and interacts with all levels of staff within the facility, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts and vendors. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Current BLS certification may be required in certain departments; required for Banner Staffing Services monitor technicians. Completion of a unit‑approved basic electrocardiogram or electroencephalographic interpretation course, or on‑the‑job training with a minimum passing score of 85% on an ECG or EEG test, with accurate identification of all lethal cardiac dysrhythmias or epileptiform activity. Must possess a working knowledge of medical terminology and effective interpersonal and problem‑solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Additional related education and/or experience preferred. Location Banner Heart Hospital is located next to Banner Baywood Medical Center in East Mesa, Arizona, and specializes in advanced cardiovascular care. The facility includes a 28‑bed cardiovascular ICU, a 60‑bed cardiac progressive care unit, a 23‑bed cardiovascular progressive care unit, two endovascular suites, six operating rooms, six cardiac catheterization laboratories, and three electrophysiology laboratories.
