The Field Trainer plays a critical role in ensuring the success of new hires and the ongoing development of behavior technicians (BTs) within their assigned region, ensuring they receive high-quality training and supervision during their first 90 days. This role requires adaptability, proactive problem-solving, and strong collaboration with clinical teams to ensure staff readiness and retention. The Field Trainer monitors performance, provides direct coaching, conducts evaluations, and communicates training needs based on field observations. 

Pay: $26 - $28 / hour 
Availability: Monday-Friday between 8:00am and 7:00pm with occasional Saturdays (Full-Time, In-Person)
Location: This position requires travel in Orange County, Long Beach, and parts of Los Angeles County

Responsibilities New Hire Training & Mentorship

• Establish yourself as a dedicated mentor for all new hires within their first 90 days and beyond, fostering confidence and clinical competence.  
• Supply hands-on training by overlapping with new hires on cases during their first two weeks to reinforce best practices.   
• Determine new hire competency by conducting structured skill probes before the 90-day evaluation.  
• Maintain a proactive check in system to monitor and support new hires throughout their onboarding, adjusting support as needed.  

Performance Monitoring & Evaluations

• Lead the tracking and analysis of new hire training progress, identifying gaps and implementing solutions to enhance competency.  
• Lead and close structured 90-day evaluations for new hires, providing actionable feedback and recommendations for continued success.  
• Decide on strategies to improve retention rates by proactively identifying and addressing barriers to success.  
• Supply data-driven insights on new hire performance to Supervisors, Clinical Directors (CDs), Associate Clinical Directors (ACDs,) and the Training Manager to drive informed decision-making.  

On-The-Floor Support & Staff Development

• Determine regions with the most urgent training needs and adapt scheduling strategically to prioritize BT performance trends and clinical consultation requests.  
• Cause positive staff development by providing real-time coaching and corrective feedback to low performing staff members.  
• Establish targeted performance check-ins with new hires to identify strengths and areas for growth.  
• Mentor staff by performing and documenting RBT competency assessments for new hires and renewals, ensuring compliance with certification standards.  

Collaboration & Training Improvements

• Advocate and establish training enhancements by communicating observed performance trends to the Training Team, ensuring real-world application aligns with training objectives.  
• Refine and decide on updates to the 90-day evaluation process by identifying areas for improvement and recommending updates to the Training Manager.  
• Lead cross-department collaboration by attending monthly Training Department meetings and aligning initiatives with organizational goals.  

Client & Supervisor Supports

• Assist with as-needed client session coverage within assigned regions, ensuring continuity of care when necessary.  
• Aid in strengthening supervisory support systems by proactively assisting in staff development, implementing tailored coaching strategies, and reinforcing clinical best practices.

• Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in the field Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), with direct experience providing 1:1 therapy.   
• Holds the title of Overlap/Field Trainer, demonstrating the ability to effectively mentor new staff by modeling best practices, providing feedback, supporting skill development, and fostering personal growth during in field overlaps.
• Strong understanding of ABA principles, behavior reduction strategies, and skill acquisition programs to effectively train new hires.  
• Demonstrated ability to conduct performance evaluations and provide data-driven feedback to improve clinical outcomes.  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport across various experience levels.  
• Highly adaptable and proactive problem-solving skills, able to shift priorities based on regional training needs.  
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to track multiple new hire progressions simultaneously.  
• Proficiency in data collection systems to monitor staff performance and inform training decisions.
