Contract Specialist - Major Capital Projects
Location: Houston, TX (Energy Corridor) Schedule: 9/80 work schedule Contract Type: Long-term contract
Position Overview Seeking an experienced Contract Specialist to support a major international capital expansion project. This role is execution-focused with a strong administrative component, while also providing input into commercial and contracting strategies. The ideal candidate will work independently with minimal supervision and bring hands-on experience managing complex contract packages across large-scale EPC environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Support execution and administration of contracts across the full lifecycle (drafting, amendments, change orders, closeout)
• Assist in development and implementation of contract and commercial strategies • Manage complex contract packages including EPC, engineering, systems completion, and
transportation/logistics scopes • Track contract deliverables, milestones, and compliance requirements • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including procurement, legal, engineering, and project
execution • Support change management, claims, and contract variations with proper documentation and
approvals • Maintain accurate contract records, reporting, and audit-ready documentation • Act as a key point of contact for suppliers and contractors on contractual matters
Required Experience & Skills
• Prior experience supporting major capital projects (MCP), ideally in LNG, offshore, or international environments
• Strong background managing complex contracts (EPC, engineering services, systems completion, transportation vessels, etc.)
• Ability to operate independently with limited oversight in fast-paced project environments • Execution-focused mindset with strong attention to detail and organization • Solid understanding of commercial models (T&M, lump sum, unit rate) • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) • Experience with contract/procurement systems (e.g., SMART by GEP, SharePoint) preferred
