Required Application Materials: Resume is required Cover Letter is preferred Job Details Job Summary The Assistant Sports Performance Coach assists coaches in allaspects of the annual strength program. Provides professionalknowledge, technical expertise, and supervisory skills to overseeall aspects of the strength and conditioning programs designated bythe immediate supervisor. This position is responsible fordesigning, implementing, and supervising year-long strength andconditioning programs as designated by the immediatesupervisor. Success in this role is measured by: Athlete performance improvements. Safe and effective program implementation. Consistent athlete engagement and attendance. Accurate documentation and reporting. Positive collaboration with coaches and supportstaff. Compliance with organizational policies and safetystandards. Core Responsibilities Assists in all aspects of assigned athletic programs. Designs, implements, and supervises the year-long strength andconditioning programs designated by the immediate supervisor. Aids in supervision of the athletic weight room. Aids in supervision of Graduate Assistants, Interns, and WorkStudy Students. Aids in the cleanliness and upkeep of the athletic weight roomand equipment. Travels with designated sport team or teams whenin-season. Communicates with sports medicine staff daily. Communicates with the sport coach or coaches daily. Attends professional development opportunities as approved bysupervisor. Monitors athlete performance using testing data and performancemetrics. Modifies training programs based on competition schedules,recovery needs, and rehabilitation progress. Keeps accurate records of athlete attendance, progress andperformance data. Stays current with industry research and best practices insports performance. Plans and monitors athlete workloads using a high-low trainingmodel to strategically alternate high-intensity and low-intensitytraining days, promoting performance gains while managing fatigueand reducing injury risk. Coordinates strength and conditioning sessions with on-field oron-court practices to ensure training loads complement, rather thancompete with, sport-specific demands. Monitors internal and external training loads through athletefeedback, sessions ratings of perceived exertion (sRPE), GPS,wellness questionnaires, or other performance tracking tools whenavailable. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. CPR and Basic First Aid Certification. Nationally Accredited Certification as required by theNCAA. One (1) year of related work experience. This position may require the ability to maintain the securityand integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per TexasEO-GA-48. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Verbal and Written Communication Collaboration Knowledge Strength Training Knowledge in Specific Conditioning Techniques Working Conditions Ten-to fourteen-hour days on the floor, coaching, on the field,coaching, and in the office. Weekend, holiday, and summer hours as required. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, orother business-related events. Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary depending on thedepartment's needs. Physical Demands Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push,pull, or otherwise move objects. This position will work primarily on campus .Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. This position is contingent upon a successful background check.Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record(MVR) may be completed as applicable.
