Job Title: Facilities Mechanic Job Description

The Facilities Mechanic maintains, repairs, and supports the upkeep of buildings, equipment, and utility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations within a food manufacturing environment. This role combines hands-on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work with documentation and coordination responsibilities to keep the facility running smoothly.

• Perform preventive maintenance on facility equipment to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
• Carry out corrective maintenance and repairs on building systems and production-related equipment as issues arise.
• Repair and maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure consistent and safe operation.
• Troubleshoot equipment and building-related issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Conduct regular facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and areas for improvement.
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to restore operations and minimize disruptions.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and documentation for all completed tasks and inspections.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, internal policies, and relevant standards.
• Coordinate and communicate with contractors and vendors to schedule service, obtain quotes, and oversee work performed.
• Collaborate with operations and other departments to prioritize maintenance activities and support production goals.

• Proven experience in building and facilities maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on skills in plumbing, including installation, repair, and maintenance of facility plumbing systems.
• Experience maintaining and repairing HVAC systems, including troubleshooting and routine servicing.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, including basic troubleshooting and repair of facility electrical components.
• Mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining and repairing mechanical systems and equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve equipment and building-related issues efficiently.
• Ability to maintain detailed maintenance logs, work orders, and related documentation.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a facilities or industrial setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

• Experience working in a food manufacturing or similar regulated production environment.
• Comfort using documentation systems for maintenance tracking and reporting.
• Ability to coordinate and schedule work with external vendors and service providers.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when maintaining records and logs.

This role is based in a food manufacturing facility that emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and consistent operations. You will work around production equipment, building systems, and utility infrastructure, performing hands-on maintenance in a dynamic, industrial setting. The environment requires adherence to strict safety and hygiene standards, as well as compliance with facility procedures and documentation practices. Work hours may involve responding to urgent maintenance needs to support continuous operations.

This is a Permanent position based out of Perth Amboy, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $80000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
