Senior HVAC TechnicianThe Dallas College Facilities Management Department supports the facility needs for Dallas College while providing responsible stewardship and efficient operation of the College's physical assets. The Facilities Management Department is responsible for approximately 5,500,000 sq. ft. of physical space and over 1400 acres of land, located across multiple locations in Dallas County. The position of Senior HVAC Technician supports this effort through the performance of advanced skilled craftwork in the HVAC trade.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesEnsures the highest quality of HVAC work across all Dallas College locations.Supervises a team of HVAC technicians, is responsible for scheduling and quality control of team duties, at least 50% of time expected to be spent working in the field.Responsible for the HVAC preventive maintenance program for the College, maintaining compliance with preventive maintenance standards, policies, and procedures, conducting training for technicians in repair and preventative maintenance procedures.Ensures proper management of team budget and assists facilities management in prioritizing HVAC projects.Will require travel within Dallas County utilizing College vehicles.Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.Performs other duties as assigned.Required Dallas College Professional Development Hours per Academic YearAll employees are required to complete a minimum of 19 hours.People leaders are required an additional 16 hours of leadership development.Perform other duties not listed as assigned.The following duties are required for People Leader roles specifically:Exercises full discretion and decision-making authority in the recruitment, selection, hiring, mentoring, coaching, development & termination of staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, budgetary constraints, and workforce planning strategies.Drive high performance by administering the performance management process timely, setting clear expectations, conducting performance evaluations, and implementing initiatives that enhance employee engagement, motivation, and retention.Minimum and Preferred – Education, Experience, and/or CertificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent, with eight (8) years of related experience which includes three (3) years supervisory experience.Must have commercial Chiller/Boiler experience including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.Valid Texas driver's license.EPA Certification is required.Bilingual or multilingual preferredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAdvanced Knowledge of repair and replacement of mechanical/electrical sensors, and other control or metering devices.Ability to utilize computer technology in order to operate and manage computer based electrical systems.Able to gather and analyze information from mechanical and electrical HVAC systems needed to evaluate proper operation such as air temperatures, air pressures, water temperature, water pressures, fan and motor RMP, Kwh, Kw, volts, amps, CT s, PT s, etc.Advanced knowledge of installation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, and air condition units and associated air handling, and chilled water distribution.Able to recognize and observe all safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly.Demonstrated the ability to make decisions under the pressure of continuing production.Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written and provide exceptional customer service to individuals from diverse backgrounds.Knowledge of DDC and pneumatic HVAC controls, graphics, calibration techniques, repair and programing of controls devices across a variety of platforms.Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems. The ability to utilize computer technology to access data and communicate with others.Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve HVAC issues.Ability to utilize a computerized maintenance management system to document daily work orders.CompetenciesDallas College seeks to identify core and professional competencies for each role and level which helps define the level of expertise needed and desired to demonstrate success in the role.
